About Us

Our Mission
To give rescue pets a louder voice—and a better chance—
by sharing their stories with purpose-driven professionals.

Welcome to Coaching...to the Rescue!—where pet rescue meets professional development. We believe stories have the power to change lives—especially the kind with wagging tails, soulful eyes, and second chances.

We’re here to give rescue pets a louder voice—and a better chance—by connecting their journeys with professionals who might not otherwise see their stories. But no tear-jerking click bait. We're keeping it professional, but still poignant. Let's face it, our feeds don't always connect to needs. So if you're seeking personal and professional growth, we're here to help. In turn, we hope you'll share the stories of adoptable pets with your network...their may be a pet's forever home waiting in your friend group!
Every pet deserves a loving, forever home. And you? You deserve to thrive. Because our team is comprised of animal advocates, certified leadership coaches, and talented writers...we're here to make both a reality.

Founder's Story
I'm Marcelle Fowler, a certified leadership coach, lifelong animal advocate and passionate storyteller.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved animals. Growing up, I eagerly cared for relatives’ dogs: Max, my grandparents’ German shepherd; his brother Duke, who belonged to my great aunt and uncle; and then there was Pepe (pep-EE), another aunt and uncle’s feisty chihuahua. He was kind of my lookalike thanks to our big, brown eyes and little button noses.
Although I didn’t become an official pet parent until adulthood, my connection to animals only deepened over time. From initially studying pre-veterinary medicine in college (until science and math courses squelched that dream!) to fostering pets and reuniting lost strays with their families...helping animals has always been a personal mission.

Now, I'm hoping to find new audiences in the effort to help rescue pets find forever homes, while using my “second act” leadership coaching career in service to this mission. Today, others have joined me in this mission, and I'm grateful to them for sharing their writing, coaching, and helpful resources to bring shelter pet stories to you in ways that help you grow professionally while helping pets find forever homes.
Ultimately, I hope to also create a nonprofit that supports mobility needs of aging, injured and physically challenged pets, because I believe a pet's mobility challenges shouldn't be a reason to surrender them, nor should inability to afford supportive equipment and services. When Midnight (pictured above) began to have mobility challenges, I had the resources to support her (laser and massage therapy, medications, installing a ramp, buying a "Help 'em Up Harness," etc.) -- extending her quality of life. Now I want to help others do the same, in Midnight's honor, so the nonprofit will be named M.E.N.D.: Midnight's Exciting New Dawn.

Thank you for being part of this journey!

Founder Marcelle Fowler and her beloved Lab-mix princess, Midnight, adopted in 2013 from Pixie's Pen Pals -- a Central Virginia organization that rescues dogs from shelters and provides obedience training through incarcerated individuals before placing the dogs up for adoption. The result? My potty-, crate-, and leash-trained (more or less!) love muffin who lit up my life for 10 years!.
